Gosainkunda Helambu Trek is the most popular trekking trail in Langtang region. It is one of the closest trekking destinations from Kathmandu. Generally, the region is also quieter than the Annapurna or Everest. It provides an opportunity to explore the magnificent view of snowcapped mountains, beautiful landscapes and waterfalls, national park riched with diverse flora and fauna, Tibetan monasteries, primitive Tibetan styles houses and Tamang culture at langtang valley, high mountain sacred lake for Hindus and Buddhist at Gosainkunda where trekkers enjoy the freshness and feel the spirituality in the silent atmosphere of the lake and finally explore a rich Tibetan culture and tradition of Sherpa indigenous people at Helambu village.
Gosainkunda Helambu trek begins from Kathmandu visiting UNESCO world cultural heritage sites, next drive to Syabru Beshi for 6-7 hrs, then trek to Gosainkunda Lake via Kyanjing Gompa and then reaches Helambu, an ultimate destination for the exploration of natural, cultural and religious treasures in Langtang region, then after ends back to Kathmandu. Helambu is a beautiful village inhabited by Sherpa ethnic group but a marked influence of Tibetan culture and tradition is noticed in their lifestyle. They are closely resemble to Tibetan villages.
Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to hotel. Short briefing of trip. Check in to hotel and rest for refreshment. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 02 : Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour – B
After breakfast, pick up from hotel and head towards the Kathmandu sightseeing tour especially UNESCO world cultural heritage sites which includes Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square for the experience of beautiful fusion of religion, culture and history. These heritage monuments reflect centuries old culture, arts and architecture of Nepal which are unique in world. After tour, drop off to hotel and make a preparation for Gosainkunda Helambu Trek including all the trekking permits and equipments. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 03 : Drive Kathmandu – Syabru Beshi (1,417m, 07-08 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, pick up from hotel and drive to Syabru Beshi for about 07-08 hrs through the scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas. It is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline and starting point of this Trekking. Overnight at Guest house, Syabru Beshi.
Day 04 : Syabru Beshi – Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the first day of the trek to Lama Hotel. It is the easiest part of the trek. The trail ascends gently up Lama Hotel through forest. En route, there might be encounter with Red Panda, monkey and Bear. Overnight at Tea House, Lama Hotel.
Day 05 : Lama Hotel – Trek to Langtang Village (3,430m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Langtang Village. The trail passes through the dense forest. During the Trekking, glimpse of Langtang Lirung Peak, white monkeys and birds can be seen. Overnight at Teat House, Langtang Village.
Day 06 : Langtang Village – Trek to Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m, 03 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Kyanjing Gompa for about 03 hours. The trek ascends up gradually through small villages and yak pastures which provides excellent panoramic view of Langtang Lirung (7,245m), Langtang Ri (6,370m), Genjempol, Ganjala and Naya Kenga Himal ranges. Overnight at Teat House, Kyanjing Gumpa.
Day 07 : Rest & Excursion day around Kyanjing Gompa – B/L/D
After breakfast, proceed the excursion of Kyanjing Gompa and its surroundings. Visit around 400 years old Monastery and Yak Cheese Factory. Ascend Kyanjin Ri (4,350 m) up to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or hike up to Tsergo Ri (4,984m) for a breath taking panoramic view of the Langtang peak. Hike down back to Kyanjing Gompa and overnight too.
Day 08 : Kyanjing Gompa – Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek back to Lama Hotel retracing the same trail that follows steep descent. Overnight at Tea House, Lama Hotel.
Day 09 : Lama Hotel – Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,260m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Thulo Syabru. The beginning of the trek is gently descent up to Pairo and then steep ascent to Thulo Syabru. The upper part of the trail is more beautiful, it offers panoramic view of mountains and green hills. En route, there might be spotted red pandas, monkey and various species of birds. This region is dominated by ethnic Tamang community who has adopted the Tibetan lifestyle. Overnight at Tea house, Thulo Syabru.
Day 10 : Thulo Syabru – Trek to Sing Gompa (3,330m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Sing Gompa. It is an amazing place to experience the Tibetan lifestyle and culture that is followed by the settlement along the area. The view of the mountains along the journey is an ideal one. Visit Cheese factory and Buddhist monastery. Overnight at Tea house, Sing Gompa.
Day 11 : Sing Gompa – Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4,460m, 04- 05 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Gosainkunda Lake. The trek goes on a rugged trail with dramatic views of Himal Chuli (7,893m), Manaslu (8,156m) and Ganesh Himal (7,406m). At Gosainkunda, there are dozens of lakes. Among them, the major three are Saraswatikund, Bharab Kunda and Gosainkunda.Visit and explore the Gosiankund Lake. This lake is considered one of the holiest lakes of the Hindus and the Buddhists. According to a legend, Gosainkunda was created by Lord Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to quench his thirst after swallowing poison. This trekking destination is famous for the Langtang valley with Tamang culture, Mountain views, Tibetan Monasteries, primitive Tibetan style houses, yak cheese factory, beautiful landscape, and waterfalls. Overnight at Tea house, Gosainkunda.
Day 12 : Gosainkunda – Trek to Ghopte (3,430m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Ghopte. At first, the trek reaches Lauribinayak Pass (4,610m), and then Ghopte (3,430m). The trek leaves Gosainkunda and climbs up Lauibinayak Pass through rugged trail, the highest point of this trek. Keep looking back for spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the recent familiar Langtang Lirung. Then descend down to Gopte. Overnight at Tea house, Ghopte.
Day 13 : Ghopte – Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2,650m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Melamchi Gaon (2,650m) via Tharepati Pass (3,490m). The first part of the trek is gently descent and then starts ascending through the rhododendron forests until it reaches Tharepati. From Tharepati, the trek gradually descends down to Helambu valley through pine and rhododendron forests. It offers a magnificent view of Jugal Himal and Number of peaks in Solu Khumbu. Melamchi Gaon is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people. Explore the monasteries at leisure time in Melamchi. Overnight at Tea house, Melamchi Gaon.
Day 14 : Melamchi Gaon – Trek to Tarkeghyang (2,743m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Tarkeghyang. The initial part of the trek descends until it crosses the stream named as Melamchi. From here, the trek goes to Tarkeghyang. It is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries. Overnight at Tea house, Tarkeghyang.
Day 15 : Tarkeghyang – Trek to Shermathang (2,621m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Shermathang. The trek today is comparatively easier than the previous days as the trek goes on the trail through flat land and beautiful forests. On the way, the trek will penetrate the village called Shermathang. Visit some ancient monasteries. Overnight at Tea house, Shermathang.
Day 16 : Shermathang – Trek to Melamchi Bazaar (8,46m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Melamchi Bazaar. The trek gradually descends down to Melamchi Bazaar through meadows, cultivated fields and across several villages. En route, it provides an opportunity to experience the culture and life style of local people by interacting with them. Overnight at Guest house, Melamchi Bazaar.
Day 17 : Drive Melamchi Bazaar – Kathmandu (1,320m, 03-04 hrs) – B/D
After breakfast, drive to Kathmandu for about 03 hours. After reaching Kathmandu, transfer to hotel and rest for refreshment. Enjoy the free time by shopping at some souvenir shops or hanging around Thamel (Tourism hub city). In the evening, Farewell dinner in a typical nepali restaurant with authentic nepali cuisine and cultural dance performance. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 18 : Departure – B
Leisure until departure. Transfer to international airport to board the flight.
1. Airport pick up and drop off service by private vehicle.
2. Welcome drinks (non-alcoholic) and farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with authentic nepali cuisine and cultural dance show.
3. All accommodation in 3-star category hotels on B/B plan in Kathmandu whilst Tea house accommodation on full board basis (all meals) during the trek.
4. Sightseeing in Kathmandu with private vehicle and local Tour guide.
5. All sightseeing heritage monuments entrance fees.
6. Kathmandu – Syabru Beshi and return from Trekking overland transportation by Public Bus.
7. All the necessary permit charges for trekking (National Park+TIMS), official service charges, government and local taxes.
8. Highly experienced, friendly, government license holder guide and porter with salary, accommodation, food, transportation and insurance.
9. Sleeping bag, down jacket, duffel bag and trekking poles (t0 be returned after the completion of trekking).
10. Medical supplies (First aid kit) carried by Trekking leader.
11. Arrangement of helicopter service for the rescue of emergency situation which will be paid by your travel insurance company.
