Gosainkunda Trek is the closest trekking destination from Kathmandu which lies in Langtang region. It has an unparallel combination of natural beauty and cultural riches. Gosainkunda Trek begins from Kathmandu visiting UNESCO world cultural heritage sites, next drive to Syabru Beshi for 6-7 hrs, then trek to Langtang valley and then reaches Gosainkunda, an ultimate destination for the excursion of natural, cultural and religious wonders, then after ends back to Kathmandu.
Gosainkunda is a sacred glacial lake for Hindus and the Buddhists as well. The place is named after the glistening Gosainkunda Lake whose water is believed a magical healing power which washes off all sins and is said to have had its origin when Lord Shiva swollowed poison to save the world. It is believed that he pierced the earth with his trident (trishul) from where a fountain of water sprang forming a lake, where the burning Shiva jumped to soothe the burning in his thorat. Devotees pray to a long stone in the middle of the lake believing it the sleeping Shiva.
During Janai Purnima (full-moon festival in August), hundreds of Hindu and Buddhists pilgrims visit the Gosainkund area in about a one-week period. At this time Jhankris (Shaman priests) come from all over Nepal to dance in an induced trance to all night singing and drum beating. It takes about 45 minutes to circumambulate the lake.
Gosainkunda trek is also known as Frozen lake trek. Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to hotel. Short briefing of trip. Check in to hotel and rest for refreshment. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 02 : Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour – B
After breakfast, pick up from hotel and head towards the Kathmandu sightseeing tour especially UNESCO world cultural heritage sites which includes Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square for the experience of beautiful fusion of religion, culture and history. These heritage monuments reflect centuries old culture, arts and architecture of Nepal which are unique in world. After tour, drop off to hotel and make a preparation for Gosainkunda Trek including all the trekking permits and equipments. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 03 : Drive Kathmandu – Syabru Beshi (1,417m, 07-08 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, pick up from hotel and drive to Syabru Beshi for about 07-08 hrs through the scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas. It is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline and starting point of this Trekking. Overnight at Guest house, Syabru Beshi.
Day 04 : Syabru Beshi – Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the first day of the trek to Lama Hotel. It is the easiest part of the trek. The trek ascends gently up Lama Hotel through forest. En route, there may be encounter with Red Panda, monkey and Bear. Overnight at Tea House, Lama Hotel.
Day 05 : Lama Hotel – Trek to Langtang Village (3,430m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Langtang Village. The trek passes through the dense forest which offers the glimpse of Langtang Lirung Peak and provides an opportunity to witness the white monkeys and variety of birds. Overnight at Teat House, Langtang Village.
Day06 : Langtang Village – Trek to Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m, 03 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Kyanjing Gompa for about 03 hours. The trek ascends up gradually through small villages and yak pastures which provides excellent panoramic close up view of Langtang Lirung (7,245m), Langtang Ri (6,370m), Genjempol, Ganjala and Naya Kenga Himal ranges. Overnight at Teat House, Kyanjing Gompa.
Day 07 : Rest & Excursion day around Kyanjing Gompa – B/L/D
After breakfast, proceed to the excursion of Kyanjing Gompa and its surroundings. Visit around 400 years old Monastery and Yak Cheese Factory. Ascend Kyanjing Ri (4,350 m) up to witness the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or hike Tsergo Ri (4,984m) up for a breath-taking panoramic view of the Langtang peak. Hike back down to Kyanjing Gompa and overnight too.
Day 08 : Kyanjing Gompa – Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek back to Lama Hotel retracing the same trail that follows steep descent. Overnight at Tea house, Lama Hotel.
Day 09 : Lama Hotel – Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,260m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Thulo Syabru. The beginning of the trek is gently descent upto Pairo and then steep ascent to Thulo Syabru. The upper part of the trail is more beautiful, it offers panoramic view of mountains and green hills. En route, there might be encountered with spotted red pandas, monkey and various species of birds. This region is dominated by Tamang ethnic community who has adopted the Tibetan lifestyle. Overnight at Tea house, Thulo Syabru.
Day 10 : Thulo Syabru – Trek to Sing Gompa (3,330m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Singh Gompa. It is an amazing place to experience the Tibetan culture, tradition and lifestyle that is followed by the settlement along the area. The view of the mountains along the journey is an ideal one. Visit Cheese factory and Buddhist monastery. Overnight at Tea house, Sing Gompa.
Day 11 : Sing Gompa – Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4,460m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek to Gosainkunda Lake, the trek goes on a rugged trail with dramatic views of Himal Chuli (7,893m), Manaslu (8,156m) and Ganesh Himal (7,406m). At Gosainkunda, there are dozens of lakes. Among them, major three are Saraswatikund, Bharab Kunda and Gosainkunda. Visit and explore the Gosiankunda Lake. This lake is considered as one of the holiest lakes of the Hindus and the Buddhists. According to a legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed poison. This trekking destination is also famous for tamang culture, mountain views, tibetan monasteries, primitive tibetan style houses, yak cheese factory, beautiful landscape and waterfalls. Overnight at Tea house, Gosainkunda.
Day 12 : Explore the holy Gosainkunda Lake and Trek back to Sing Gompa – B/L/D
This is a very special day and highlight of this trek to explore the holy Gosainkunda Lake. A sacred lake for both the adherents of Hindu and Buddhist faiths, is also famous for wonderful scenery. Trek back to Sing Gompa and overnight at Tea house.
Day 13 : Sing Gompa – Trek to Dhunche (1,950m, 05-06 hrs) – B/L/D
After breakfast, start the trek back to Dhunche. The trek descends down to Dhunche, headquarters of Rasuwa district, passing through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests. Overnight at Guest house, Dhunche.
Day 14 : Drive back to Kathmandu – B/L/D
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu retracing the same path. After reaching Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Check in to hotel and rest for refreshment. Enjoy the free time by shopping at souvenir shops or hanging around Thamel (tourism hub city). In the evening, Farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with authentic nepali cuisine and cultural dance performance. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.
Day 15 : Departure – B
Leisure until departure. Transfer to International airport to board the flight.

2. Welcome drinks (non-alcoholic) and farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with authentic nepali cuisine and cultural dance show.
3. All accommodation in 3-star category hotels on B/B plan in Kathmandu whilst Tea House accommodation on full board basis (all meals) during the trek.
4. Sightseeing in Kathmandu with private vehicle and local Tour guide.
5. All sightseeing heritage monuments entrance fees.
6. Kathmandu – Syabru Beshi overland round transportation by Public Bus.
7. All the necessary permit charges for trekking (National Park+TIMS), official service charges, government and local taxes.
