Island Peak Climbing Itinerary
Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to hotel. Short briefing of trip. Check in to hotel and rest for Refreshment. Overnight at Hotel, Kathmandu.

After breakfast, pick up from hotel and head towards the Kathmandu sightseeing tour especially UNESCO world cultural heritage sites which includes Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square for the experience of beautiful fusion of religion, culture and history. These heritage monuments reflect centuries old culture, arts and architecture of Nepal which are medieval charms of Malla Dynasty. After  tour, drop off to hotel and make a preperation for Island Peak climbing including all the trekking permits and  equipments. Overnight at hotel, Kathmandu.

After breakfast, pick up from hotel and transfer to domestic Airport terminal for the flight to Lukla which is about 30 minutes long and scenic that goes above the beautiful green and white mountains. Start the first day of the trek to Phakding via the Sherpa community village. Stay overnight at hotel, Phakding.

After breakfast, start the trek to Namche Bazaar. The pleasant gradual uphill trek goes through the pine forest, national park and many villages along the Dudh Koshi River up to the Hilary suspension bridges. From this point, the trek goes on steep uphill and windy trail up to beautiful town of Namche, famously known as Namche Bazar.This is a beautiful village town of Sherpa community on the lap of mountain. Magnificent view of Kwangde peak, Kusum kangru, Mt.Everest, Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Taweche peak makes the trek enjoyable along the whole trail.Overnight at hotel, Namche

This is a rest day for acclimatization and exploration of indigenous Sherpa people and Buddhist culture at Namche Bazaar. After breakfast, hike up to Everest view point for about two hours uphill, a magnificent spot perched on the top of Namche Bazaar with breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-capped giant mountains like Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Amadablam and many other Himalayan peaks and the valleys way down, with an interesting museum with all kinds of information regarding the history of the Himalayas, geographic, culture, mountaineering history and existing information on flora and fauna of this region. Hike down to Namche and spend rest of the day exploring Namche Bazaar enjoying the local atmosphere.

After mountain breakfast, start the trek to Tengboche. Initial part of the trek goes on a mountain flat and downhill trail to Phungi Thanga for about 03-04 hours and then ascends steep uphill for about another 02-03 hours to reach the famous Tengboche.Visit an ancient Tyangboche monastery where everyone can see the footprint of Milarepa, a famous ancient Tibetan yogi and poet from the Kagyupa sect. Overnight at Tea house, Tengboche.

After breakfast, start the trek to Dingboche. The trail goes through many ups and downs, finally reaches Dingboche after crossing Imja Khola then Pangboche. Enjoy the enchanting view of the snow capped mountains which is luring everyone even closer to the Everest. The view and the fresh mountain air is enough to make everyone forget the tiredness. Be engage in the observation of the incredible beauty of the Himalayan atmosphere. Overnight at Tea house, Dingboche.

Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization. At this altitude, the human body needs time to adjust the mountain climate. So, take the stopover to acclimatize to the high altitude climate. Rather than just sitting around Hiking is strongly recommended. The short and best option is to ascend up the hill immediately behind Dingboche which takes about 03 hours to reach the top. The view from the top will be mind blowing. All the efforts made to reach the top will be eventually rewarded.

After breakfast, start the trek to Chukung. The trek is gently uphill towards eastern side. It winds across the moraine from Lhotse glacier. After trekking for around 3 hrs, it reaches Chukung which is also known as the hidden valley. It lies in the base of Island Peak. Make a preparation for climbing and overnight at Tea House, Chukung.

After breakfast and making all the preparation for climbing, start the climb on to high camp from where the actual climb to Island Peak Base Camp takes plsce. At first, the trail is handy then turns green and then boulder strewn. Make a Practice for pre-climbing training which helps to boost the climbing, being familiar with climbing boots, ice axe, crampons and harnesses. Set up the camp and overnight at camp, Island Peak Base Camp.

This is a main day of the adventure and highlight of this trip. If the weather is clear, start the climbing to the altitude of 6,187m early in the morning. After reaching on the top, spend some time observing the magnificent view and taking pictures as well. Then, climb down the Island Peak and trek back to Chukung. Overnight at Tea house, Chukung.

After breakfast, start the trek to Phortse. The trek is much easier and downhill to lower altitude. The trek follows the same trail along the Khumbu khola and passes  through the beautiful sherpa villages of orsho and shomare offering the blissful views of the Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kangtaiga, and  Imja Tse river flowing. Overnight at Tea house, Phortse.

After brekfast, start the trek back down to Namche Bazaar leaving the mountains in the backdrop. Overnight at Hotel, Namche Bazaar.

After breakfast, start the trek back down to Lukla for about 05-06 hrs. Overnight at Hotel, Lukla.

After breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Check in to hotel and rest for refreshment.Enjoy the free time by shopping at souvenir shops or hanging around thamel (Tourist hub city). In the evening, Farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with cultural dance performance. Overnight at Hotel, Kathmandu.

Note: Please note that flights from Lukla are sometimes delayed or cancelled due to bad weather conditions such as fog-bounds Kathmandu or stormy wind in Lukla. Be reassured that our staffs in Lukla and Kathmandu will be doing everything possible to minimize the inconvenience and your patience is anticipated.

Leisure until departure. Transfer to International airport to board the flight.

Cost Includes

  • Pick up and drop off service from Airport and Hotel by private vehicle.
  • Welcome drinks (non-alcoholic) and farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with a cultural dance show.
  • All accommodation in 3-star category hotels on bed and breakfast basis in Kathmandu whilst Tea House accommodation on full board basis (all meals) during the trek and Tented camp during the climbing.
  • Sightseeing in Kathmandu with private vehicle and Tour guide
  • All Heritage monuments entrance fees.
  • Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu round transportation by Domestic flight.
  • All the necessary trekking permit fees (National Park + TIMS), peak climbing fees, official service charges, government and local taxes.
  • Highly experienced, friendly, government license holder guide and porter with salary, accommodation, food, transportation and insurance.
  • Sleeping bag, down jacket, duffel bag, trekking poles and climbing eqipments(camping tent, climbing rope) (to be returned after the completion of trekking).
  • Medical supplies (First aid kit carried by Trekking leader).
  • Arrangement of helicopter service (for the rescue of emergency situation), which will be paid by Travel insurance company.

  • Extra night accommodation in Lukla and Kathmandu, early arrival or late departure,early return or late return from mountain (due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.
  • Tips for the guide, porter and driver (tips is expected).
